Is your dog suffering from anxiety, pain, or discomfort? If so, you may want to think about using CBD oil to help relieve their symptoms.

CBD (or cannabidiol) is a non-psychoactive compound derived from hemp plants, thought to be helpful in treating a variety of physical and psychological conditions in humans -- and our K-9 friends! All products containing less than 0.3% THC, which includes CBD oil, gel capsules, treats, and tinctures made for dogs, are legal in every state.

So what are the benefits of CBD oil for dogs? Here are 10 reasons to try it!

1. To Help With Anxiety

It’s common for dogs to experience nervousness and stress. Studies show that CBD oil relieves symptoms of anxiety in both humans and dogs by interacting with the body’s natural endocannabinoid system to stimulate the production of serotonin, which stabilizes your dog’s mood and relieves their anxiety.

CBD-containing chews, oil drops, treats, or capsules can go a long way to help calm an anxious dog, especially when used in conjunction with regular exercise, plenty of chew toys, a consistent daily routine, and a healthy and nutritious diet.

2. To Ease Arthritis and Joint Pain

Just like humans, dogs can develop chronic joint inflammation and/or deterioration, which leads to pain. In fact, about 20% of dogs cope with arthritis in the US. Yummy hemp-derived CBD dog treats for joint pain, can help ease the discomfort, stiffness, and mobility problems related to arthritis and other joint inflammation disorders.

3. For Skin Health

If your dog tends to scratch or roll around a lot, they may be suffering from an allergy, rash, or dry skin. Chronic scratching can lead to microdermabrasion and deterioration of your pup’s skin barrier.

CBD oil helps reduce both skin inflammation and stress, which can help prevent your dog from scratching and accidentally making their itching worse. If your dog is scratching more than usual or develops a rash or infection, it’s also a good idea to schedule an appointment with your vet to have them checked out.

4. For Epilepsy

Epilepsy is the most common cause of recurring seizures among dogs, and traditional seizure medications tend to come with a host of unpleasant side effects. Cannabidiol is known to have anticonvulsant properties and recent clinical trials have demonstrated that CBD oil can be helpful in reducing symptoms of epilepsy and the frequency of seizures in dogs.

5. To Treat Noise Phobia

If your dog gets nervous and jittery around fireworks or feels anxious from the sound of a crackling fire, CBD oil can help calm their nerves. In the same way, it interacts with the receptors in your pup’s brain to treat general or separation anxiety, it can also work to relieve more short-term anxious responses.

6. For Heart Health

In addition to relieving short-term stress, CBD oil also addresses the longer-term impacts of anxiety and helps prevent symptoms of age-related heart conditions by reducing your pup’s overall blood pressure and heart rate. This is because it helps regulate your dog’s endocannabinoid system, which keeps their body in a natural state of balance and homeostasis.

7. For Nausea and Appetite

One of the best-studied benefits of CBD oil is its ability to help regulate nausea and vomiting. Whether your dog simply has a sensitive stomach or is suffering from an underlying illness, it’s likely that CBD oil will help with their nausea. Vitamin- and nutrient-rich products, like the Pet Releaf CBD Hemp Oil, are especially good for dogs who have trouble eating or getting all their vitamins through their food.

8. To Reduce Allergies

Like humans, dogs can develop allergic reactions to things in their environments like foods, plants, danders, medications, insects, or even grass. CBD oil not only helps ease pain or irritation caused by the allergy -- it also boosts your dog’s immune system, which reduces the allergy symptoms caused by your dog’s body trying to defend itself from the outside world.

9. To Ease Cancer Pain

Although the jury is still out on whether or not CBD can work as an effective treatment for cancer itself, it can help treat the symptoms associated with the disease and common treatments. CBD can be a wonderful secondary treatment for the pain or discomfort caused by cancer itself or for a dog undergoing painful chemotherapy or other treatment.

10. To Help With Sleep

If your dog is having difficulty falling or staying asleep, a small dose of CBD oil is a great way to help them relax and sleep. Whether their restlessness is due to illness, pain, or anxiety, CBD oil is likely to help. That’s because it regulates serotonin, relaxes the body, and encourages overall immune health, which is sure to help your pup sleep through the night.

There are various means by which eras are defined: the invention of the wheel, the start of the Renaissance, and above all, Taylor Swift albums, tours - so much so the current one is literally named Eras - and romantic partners. Basically, enough things change enough and that means we're in a new phase. Having said that, we have been thinking recently of a contrast: animals and pets are consistently dominant in pop culture - no changes please and thank you - and every single era celebrates and records them. In our current human-centric age, this seems at first, ahem, glance odd, but as we have previously noted, there are 6.5 BILLION cat pictures on the internet which is only slight fewer than the number of selfies on Kylie Jenner's phone (7 billion, allegedly). In our view, this is as it should be, but it set us thinking: why? Why are animals more enduring across cultures, eras, continents, and content than anything else? Step this way...
