The Covid pandemic saw more Americans than ever welcome pets to their families, and since then, record numbers of us have been enjoying the huge benefits that they bring; as well as companionship and peerless loyalty, pet families can enjoy lower cholesterol and blood pressure, reduced risk of heart attacks, and of course protection against loneliness.

But as the world returned to normal, a new epidemic emerged: the Pining Pet. For no matter how much we love our kitties and pups, the reality of work or school means many must spend time at home alone, and it’s here that a new service aims to help them!

Pet Pals, which launched in test markets on February 14th, is rolling out nationwide today and we couldn’t be more excited! Simply create a pet profile for your best friend, then swipe to match with local pups and kitties who share similar interests. Whether for casual companionship, meetups, or a more serious long term connection, there is a world of furry friends just waiting to be made.

Download PetPals here and get your swipe on! They don't call it puppy love* for nothing! 💘🐾🥰🐈🐩

*or kitty love, but that's not a song - yet. We are working on it! 🎼🎶

As a rule, we are National Day enthusiasts regardless of the occasion. But every once in a while a National Day comes about that fills us with the joy and enthusiasm of 100 puppies which is an apt metaphor since that day is in fact today: National Puppy Day! As you can imagine, the level of excitement at KDHQ is turned up to 11, and accordingly we’ve been gathering not only a selection of puppy merch at 10% off this weekend, March 23rd & 24th, with code PUPPYLOVE24, but also some super fun puppy facts that prove that alongside National Kitten Day (July 10th, mark your calendars!), this is the best day of all the days.

There are various means by which eras are defined: the invention of the wheel, the start of the Renaissance, and above all, Taylor Swift albums, tours - so much so the current one is literally named Eras - and romantic partners. Basically, enough things change enough and that means we're in a new phase. Having said that, we have been thinking recently of a contrast: animals and pets are consistently dominant in pop culture - no changes please and thank you - and every single era celebrates and records them. Why are animals more enduring across cultures, eras, continents, and content than anything else? Step this way...
